Barking Sheep 2006 Malbec Bonarda Mendoza

Beware of the Sheep!
Beware, indeed! Try it and you MAY be hooked!
Looks like malbec in the glass. Smells like malbec: lots of baking spice, especially brown sugar with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Tastes like malbec: subtle licorice, with nice plum and cherry. Barks like malbec? Well, its smooth and luxurious mouthfeel is a bit different than your basic Argentinian malbec. Not as “high octane.” Might not stand up to a nice, juicy grilled red meat steak, as malbec would. This is not necessarily a negative - more possible pairings. The finish is unique as well. After a few seconds of smoothness, a peppery spice kicks in. I find it wonderfully different. Found for $9.99 at Target, this was a delightful change of pace with dinner tonight. Just remember to BEWARE OF THE SHEEP (evidently they BARK in Argentina!)
Grade: B+ Unique and different at a value price
